Vernon L. Andrews, Ph.D., received his doctorate in sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also obtained his bachelor’s degree in English from California State University, Chico (CSUC) in 1981, and later in 1989, he earned a master’s degree in Public Communication from Chico.
Before leaving for his Ph.D., Dr. Andrews worked for six years as a public relations manager and company historian for Hewlett-Packard Company in Palo Alto, California.
From 1996 to 2009, Dr. Andrews served as a faculty member and later, chair, of the American Studies Department at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand.
After returning to the states for good in 2010, Dr. Andrews conducted research and taught entrepreneurship, diversity and marketing courses in the management and marketing departments at CSUC.
He currently teaches in the Multicultural and Gender Studies Department at California State University, Chico. Dr. Andrews writes for newspapers, magazines, and has extensive radio and television interview experience in addition to his academic publishing and speaking.
